Mashad carpet production is extensive, mostly knitting large carpets with medallion motifs, which are also sold under the name Meshed. The quality is variable and the wool from Khorrasan is recognisable because it is so soft. Mashad carpets are made in the provincial capital of Mashad using senneh knots and they have medallion patterns, even patterned floral motifs occur. The colours consist mostly of dark cochineal red, blue or beige (ground colour).
